Irish team-mates John Joe Nevin and Willie McLaughlin won’t have much time for admiring Paris in the springtime tonight.
Both men will be on opposing sides when Paris United host Milano Thunder in the first-leg of World Series of Boxing (WSB) quarter-finals in the French capital this evening.
London 2012 Olympian Nevin, who helped United win the inaugural WSB Team Championships last season. meets Serbian lightweight Branimir Stankovic at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.
Former Irish Elite champion McLaughlin, who boxes out of the Illies GG in Donegal, has been named in the Thunder side for the five-bout clash versus United middleweight Joe Mulema of the Cameroon.
Both Irish boxers are unbeaten in the WSB this season, McLaughlin winning three fights and Nevin winning two.
Cavan BC ace Nevin, who has qualified for the Olympic Games at bantamweight, is boxing at lightweight in the WSB.
Both sides meet again in the second leg on March 9th.
