Six Irish boxers are through to the semi-finals of the Algirdas Socikas Multi-Nations in Lithuania.
Ireland recorded five quarter-final wins out of eight from the opening session of the Algirdas Socikas Multi-Nations in Kaunas, Lithuania tonight.
Eric Donovan, Ken Egan, Jason Quigley and Phil Sutcliffe all advanced.
John Joe Joyce progressed after receiving a walkover.
Donovan recorded an impressive 13-5 win over Nikita Farions and Quigley had ten points to spare over Artjom Fjodorov.
Egan emerged with a two-point margin of victory over experienced Danish light-heavyweight Jim Anderson.
The 2008 Olympic silver medalist will now meet Australian 2012 Olympian Damien Hooper – who was beaten by Joe Ward in the 2010 AIBA World Youth final in Baku – in Friday’s 81kg semi-final.
Sutcliffe and Joyce will also face Australian 2012 Olympians tomorrow. Sutcliffe meets Jeff Horne and Joyce is in against Cameron Hammond.
Horne and Hammond qualified for London 2012 at the AIBA Oceania qualifiers in Canberra,Australia in March.
Tyrone McCullagh, Steven Ward and Sean Turner lost out to Russia, Lithuania and England tonight.
Ryston BC flyweight Chris Phelan received a bye into the last-four.
