Sixteen titles were claimed at the National Junior Cadet finals at the National Stadium in Dublin today.
Sunday the 13th proved to be the day of the countback with three National Junior Cadet titles claimed on accepted scores at the National Stadium.
Joseph Nevin, Owen McCarthy and Matthew Davis all had their hands raised in victory after going all the way down to the wire versus Liam Glennon, Eugene McKeever and James Keenan.
Conor Dempsey won the 31kg title following his 10-3 decision over Sean Corr, while Conor Quinn, James McGivern and Aaron Harkin left the home of Irish boxing with the 31kg,39kg, 46kg and 48kg titles.
Michael Nevin also impressed this afternoon, a 14-3 verdict over Patrick Coney capturing the 50kg honours.
Ciaran Molly emerged from a tough contest with Alan White, while Brett beat Patrick O’Donnell 13-7 and Christopher O’Reilly recorded an inside the distance win over Anthony Johnston.
The 63kg,66kg, and 70kg accolades went to Kevin Kehoe, George Bodor and Brian Kennedy, while Marcus Bowley and James Clarke capped fine tournaments with wins in the 75kg and 80kg weight classes.
Six semi-finals were also decided today. Thomas McCarthy and Dominic Bradley – who beat Mickey Keating to prevent an all Cork 33kg final – Tom Stokes, Shane Flavin, Ryan Lavery and Oliver McCarthy emerged victorious.
