Ireland’s Olympic athletes continued to prove a huge draw with Irish audiences as 1.2 million* viewers watched John Joe Nevin win an Olympic silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics on RTÉ Television last Saturday night.
An average of 1,180,000* viewers watched RTÉ Two throughout the full 18 minute bout from the moment John Joe stepped into the ring until the outcome was announced. The Mullingar native was defeated 14-11 by opponent Luke Campbell but brought home Ireland’s fifth medal of the games, winning silver.
RTÉ Television’s comprehensive coverage of the games reached an audience of 3.5 million** viewers over the 17 days of the event with three out of every four people in Ireland watching a minimum of 15 minutes of RTÉ Two’s London 2012 Olympics coverage.
