ITALY V IRELAND RESULTS (DAY 2)

Stephen Broadhurst claimed his second victory over an Italian opponent in two days in Sardinia, Italy last night.

 

The talented Dealgan welterweight beat Dario Morrello 48 hours are claiming victory over Giuseppe Perugino in the first of two Youth internationals.

 

Ryston ace Hugh Myres and Limerick prospect Myles Casey also emerged victorious in the second meeting between Italy and Ireland Youths at the Stentino Open Air Festival of boxing.

 

However, Ireland's senior team were surprisingly adjudged to have lost all of their eight bouts against the hosts.

 

Irish team manager Dominic Kiernan said: "I was happy with the performances of the two squads, particularly the Youth squad. It has been a short trip for us and the squads were competing in very warm conditions. The experience of competing in tournaments like this will only stand to us in the future."

 

The Irish team are due to arrive home at 9.20pm this evening via Dublin Airport.

 

The organisers were not using the computerised scoring system at last night's meeting.
