ITALY V IRELAND RESULTS & FIXTURES

The Ireland Youth side lost out to Italy in Italy last night, a 6-2 win seeing the Azzuri claim victory from the first meeting between the sides at the Stentino Open Air Festival of boxing in Sardinia on Thursday evening.

 

Ireland's Kieran Forde and Stephen Broadhurst registered wins in the light-welterweight and welterweight classes over the eight bout international meet.

 

Forde chalked up a convincing 16-4 verdict over Vincenzo Contestabile and Broadhurst had five points to spare over Giuseppe Perugino.

 

Myles Casey, from Our Lady of Lourdes club in Limerick, was involved in a 33 point thriller with Alessandro Cubeddu, the Italian flyweight emerging victorious by a three point margin.

 

The Irish Youths will meet Italy again tomorrow followed by a senior international between the sides.
