India have named their entire seven-man Olympic team in a 12-man squad for a training camp with Ireland at Dublin’s National Stadium.
The India team are due to arrive in Dublin this evening (June 15th) and will begin training with Ireland early next week.
London 2012 Olympians Laishram Devendro Singh, Shiva Thapa, Jai Bhagwan, Manoj Kumar, Vikas Krishan, Vijender Singh and Sumit Sangwan are included in the visiting panel.
Ireland’s David Oliver Joyce needs no introduction to Bhagwan, who will represent his country at lightweight at London 2012.
Both boxers met in the last-16 of the AIBA World Championships and Olympics qualifies in Baku, Azerbaijan last year.
The bout was tied at 30-30 within a few seconds remaining to the final bell, but Joyce received a harsh public warning for holding, a verdict which handed Bhagwan a 32-30 decision and a ticket to the London Olympics.
Ireland will be using the visit of India as part of their build up toward the 2012 Games.
The Irish Olympic squad will have their final training camp in Assisi, Italy next month before traveling to London.
Katie Taylor, Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan, John Joe Nevin, Adam Nolan and Darren O’Neill will represent Ireland in the boxing event at the 30th Olympiad.
