Nineteen new titles were handed out at tonight’s Boy 1 finals at the National Stadium in Dublin.

Nineteen new Irish champions were crowned at tonight’s National Boy 1,2 & 3 Championships Boy 1 finals at Dublin’s National Stadium.
The Our Lady of Lourdes BC experienced mixed emotions with Eddie Donovan winning gold in the 36kg class versus James Devlin. However, Donovan’s clubmate Adam O’Donnell lost out to the impressive Patrick Gallagher
There were no countbacks tonight, but four finals went right down to the wire and were decided on one point margins, Martin McDonagh, Cork’s Patrick Dunne, Sean McDonagh and Patrick G. Ward edging out James O’Grady, Oran McNaughton, David Groden and Thomas McDonagh of the St Francis BC in Limerick
Lewis Dickey also had to work hard to earn his Irish belt, a 10-8 verdict over Brian Stokes seeing the Churchland BC prospect finishing on top of the podium.
Terry O’Donoghue and Sean Mari secured the first two titles of the night, Mari capping a fine tournament with a 10-8 decision over the talented Jordan Muldoon.
Barry Reynolds, who boxes out of the St Paul’s club in Antrim, also impressed this evening. Reynolds earned an 8-2 win over Brendan O’Hagan.
Reece Parchment ensured that he finished on top, followed by positive verdicts for Matthew Tierney, Sean Dempsey, Patrick O. Maughan and Paddy Donoghue.
Tiernan Quinn captured a second title for Cork with an 11-2 victory over Dominic McDonagh and Michael Walsh claimed the last title on offer courtesy of a 16-3 decision over Brendan McParland in the 66kg class.
