AIBA today confirmed the full list of athletes for the 2012 Olympic Games.

250 male and 36 female boxers will compete at the 30th Olympiad across 13 weight categories.

Women’s boxing will make it’s historic debut at London 2012 over 100-years after men’s pugilism answered an opening bell at the 1904 Olympics in St Louis.

Boxing at the 2012 Olympics begins on July 28th at the ExCel venue in London.

Irish boxing fans will be keeping a close eye on six of the weight divisions at London 2012.

Light-flyweight Paddy Barnes, flyweight Michael Conlan, bantamweight John Joe Nevin, lightweight Katie Taylor, light-welterweight Adam Nolan and middleweight Darren O’Neill will represent Ireland in the boxing event in the English capital.

Barnes, a bronze medal winner at Beijing 2008, and Nevin will be appearing in successive Olympiads.

Ireland’s will also have a 7th person between the ropes at London 2012 as Tyrone’s Michael Gallagher has been selected for the referees and Judges panel.
